It is about time I showed you some of the photos I took during the few days my boyfriend and me spent in Budapest, Hungary at the beginning of the month! We really only had 3 days so we did a lot in those 3 days because there was so much to see and do - and believe me, we could have easily filled another week or so!
Budapest is a very beautiful city, filled with amazing architecture and interesting activities. Unfortunately the weather was not really on our side (as you can probably see) but we still had a great time.
We arrived mid afternoon on our first day and only walked into the city when it was getting dark and had supper there. Our apartment was only a few minutes from the river so we could see the beautiful buildings lit up during our walk. On the way home we were pleasantly surprised to find an open book shop at 10 pm!
On the second day we looked at Vajdahunyad Castle and visited a flea market (my boyfriend has a way of finding those ;) ) where we found a Hungarian chocolate producer that let us try everything he had (and omg it was so good).
Then we went to a fantastic Farmer's market where we bought about a kilo of cheese (omg that cheese....), walked up Gellért Hill to look down on to Budapest and then walked along the Buda side, had yummy pancakes for supper and looked at the Parliament beautifully lit up at night. What an architecture! At night we watched "Dallas Buyers Club" in the most beautiful cinema I have ever seen.
Our third day was as packed as the day before! We started by taking the bus over to the Buda side and walked to Matthias Church and Fishermen's Bastion which were both amazingly beautiful! We also "met" a falcon who is kept there - what a beauty these birds are, especially up close! I was really sad that I did not have a model in a great dress with me because Fishermen's Bastion would have been perfect for a photo shoot!
From there we went on to Buda Castle, took the funicular back down the hill and took the bus to the Great Market Hall. We looked at all the food there and ate a few things and then walked around town until we felt ready for desert - can you believe these incredibly beautiful ice cream flowers! They were almost too beautiful too eat... almost! ;) And that ice cream was fantastic too!
We ended the night by treating ourselves to a few hours in Budapest's famous Szechenyi Baths. Wow. Like seriously! Wow. It was such an incredibly experience in the most beautiful location and I will never forget that. On the way home we stopped for a fantastic pho soup at a Vietnamese restaurant.
On the last day before we left I also finally managed - with the help of my wonderful boyfriend - to take my photo for week 9 of my 52 Week project. The theme was pattern and since we had these beautiful floors in the building of our apartment, I just had to use them. We just about had time for an hour-long walk on Margaret Island before we had to head to the train station to go back home to Munich.
I hope you enjoyed looking at my photos from Budapest!
All the best,
