I am back from my short trip to Budapest! Expect a blog post with photos from my trip soon!
So in the meantime, here is my explanation for my photo for week 7. The theme was "Monster"! I had lots of ideas for this theme, so at some point I will - hopefully - turn them all into photos but for now I decided on a giant spider. This photo was taken when I visited my very talented and close friend Moritz Aust for a weekend. There are such great locations close to where he lives so I decided to wait and shoot my concept there.
Before I even went out to shoot my concept, I searched for a suitable spider because I wanted to make sure I took the photo of me in the same or a similar angle. It was not as easy as I thought because most free photos of spiders that I found were taken from the top which was of course not anything I could use. I found the spider you can see in my image above on deviantart in the end.
After I went back home and started working on the photo, I started with expanding it. Then I added some hair in motion and another part of the dress to have more motion in the photo and by that make it look more like I was coming to a sudden stop because of seeing the huge spider. Then I added the spider and enlarged it. At first, I left the color of the grass the way it was but then I realised it was not surreal enough and I wanted it to look more like a dream (or more a nightmare actually) so I changed the color of the grass and the general tones and light as well until I was satisfied.
Hope you like it!
All the best,
